for my reaction to my second box, again i was disappointed when i pulled the clothes out and didn't see my army green vest. however, not so disappointed since i already purchased one at target anticipating not getting it in this fix. mostly, i wasn't too impressed with this box. i didn't like a lot of the clothes she picked out for me.
if you haven't ever heard of stitch fix, they are a subscription that basically assigns a stylist to you that picks out 5 different pieces of clothing and mails them to you for $20. you get to try on the clothes and decide if you want to keep them. if you do, then you keep however many pieces and stitch fix will charge you the cost of the clothes minus your $20 you paid to get the box. the items you don't want, you place in a prestamped bag and mail it back usps to them. during checkout you can state what you loved/hated about each item. if you buy all 5 items, you get a 25% discount and you still subtract your $20. you get 3 days to try on and decide before they expect you to check out.
your clothes comes in a box. and is neatly packaged. inside your clothes will be nicely folded and wrapped in tissue paper. there will be a prestamped bag for your returns and a card stating what's in the box, how to pair it with other items you may have in your closet and a cost sheet.
Pixley Polly Abstract Chevron Tie Waist Tunic $54.00 - Returned
honestly, i hated every bit of this. i hated the pattern. i hated how long it was. is this a dress or a shirt? i'm not really sure. the pattern is too loud. and the colors aren't fun for me. so i returned it.Skies are Blue Arca Henley Blouse $58.00 - Kept
this is the only item in the box i kept. i like the color. it's more of a purple blue. i love the neck line. i love that it's longer in the front and back so again i can wear it with leggings or slacks. the arm detail is cute. but the best part about this shirt is the back. the back has buttons like a normal blouse! i think it's so cute. kept!
Fashionista Timaru Vest $88.00 - Returned
i struggled with this one. no it's not my army green vest. but it is a vest. that i could totally dress up or down. wear on weekends or to work. however, i do already have 4 black vests in my closet. yes, four. so i don't think i need a 5th one at $88! but i did try it on multiple times and debated realllllly hard about it. i might regret returning this..
Gilli Sina VNeck Printed Maxi Dress $78.00 - Returned
this dress doesn't feel like it's worth $70. the pattern is awful. reminds me of the 70s and my style isn't 70s. the top is flattering but the thin material doesn't really give you much to work with if you have a small bust like i do. the length is OK. i'm 5'1 so i would have to wear heels with it or deal with dragging it around while i walked. it really isn't something i would pick off the rack and buy. so i returned it.
Just Black Dean Skinny Jean $78.00 - Returned
these jeans fit nicely for the most part. however, i do own like 4 pairs of black skinny jeans. not even kidding. and i hated that this stopped right at the ankle. hello short girl probs. so it looks like they don't fit properly. and i didn't care for the zipper detail on the side. why am i unzipping my ankles?? do they need more party space?? i returned them. maybe a different color or a different length like a little bit above the ankle or a little bit below the ankle.. minus the zipper. but i couldn't find a reason to even like them let alone buy them.
i'm going to keep doing stitch fix. but i'm not sure if i'm crazy about it. again, i am the kind of girl that will do online shopping and local store shopping and if i need something, i buy it. so i may not be the best candidate for this service. especially if i'm expecting this service to fulfill my wants/needs. maybe if my expectation is more of 'surpise me' than i need a white dress, i could be happier with it. but i'm not sure if only buying one or two items every month is really worth getting this service on a regular basis. and i know some people use this service for special occasions. like if they know they're going to a wedding, they'll request a box with wedding options. however, if you're really expecting it to send you something specific, i feel like stitch fix isn't really going to do that. so, i wouldn't really rely on this service to get me anything specific for any specific event. so, i will try to adjust my expectations for this service and see if box 3 surprises me..
