summersville: engagement

well, some big things happened over the weekend.  we got engaged!!!!!!!!

i had originally booked a room at hawk's nest lodge in anstead, wv for a girls weekend.  however, some things came up and the girls couldn't go.  my boyfriend had a bachelor party to attend out of town that ended up getting canceled.  so we both had a weekend free, nothing to do, and a room available to us in almost heaven.  we convinced his brother, sis in law and parents to go with us and we enjoyed a weekend outdoors.

our balcony view

our first stop was the kirkwood winery in summersville.  we tasted a looooooot of wine and the boys tried some whiskey.  shortly after tasting, we went to summersville lake and rented 2 paddle boards.  the boys did most of the rowing while me and the sister sat on the boards and enjoyed the views.  at one point, matt (my boyfriend) fell in the lake.  when he came up, he was frantically checking his pockets.  i asked what he was looking for and he quickly responded with nothing..  later, i found out he had put the ring in his trunks' pocket in case he wanted to ask me on the lake.  (what the heck!?)

for dinner, we enjoyed pies and pints in fayetteville.  the wait was kind of long so we walked around the town for awhile until our table was ready.  pizza and beer was delicious but we were all super tired from the full day of drinking and sun.

the next morning we checked out of our rooms.  matt and i decided to explore the lover's leap overlook to have a better view of the river.  while there by ourselves, matt dropped to one knee and popped the question.  of course i said yes!  it was a really sweet private moment between the two of us.

we spent the rest of the morning exploring hawk's nest park and taking a small hike before heading home.  overall i would definitely say the area is worth visiting.  the views are breathtaking and the possibility of romance is very high! :)
